Land Sales … UP!!!

Here we are: it’s the middle of October already. Where has this year gone anyway? I have no clue. Time seems to slip, slip, on by, that is for sure. (And interestingly enough, I find myself saying that more and more each year).

It’s probably a good bet that many of you have been watching the rather interesting political races going on right now for the 2016 U.S. Presidency – Rubio, Bush, Cruz, Huckabee, Trump , etc., etc., going nose-to-nose against Clinton, Webb, Sanders and possibly Joe Biden. Interesting times right now with so much going on in the world. Lots of turmoil around the globe and here in America. It should be an interesting race.

What about the economy? Well as I’m sure you know it’s been in turmoil for quite some time and it isn’t exactly top-shelf but interest rates are still very low. Crazy low. in fact. Historical low. But…..there has been talk about the Federal Reserve raising the rates soon. Despise talk, though, when the Fed met on September 17 they decided to keep rates right where they are – for now, at least.

What does that mean for us “land enthusiasts”? Well, for buyers, of course, it means they still have access to some of the lowest rate interest loans that have ever been offered. For sellers, it means, land sales are, and still should, clip along nicely, thank you very much. In fact, land prices are, and have been, trending upward.

The bottom line: land prices and sales are up. According to the above report, strong land sales are projected for the first half of 2015 (at least). And, eighty-seven percent of the experts surveyed expect to see “about the same” to “stronger” growth in sales through this time period.

So, in short, now is as good of time as any to buy land. Land prices may be trending upward but the cost of borrowing is as low, or is lower, than it’s every been! That means one can pay more per acre then they did in the past for the same amount of money borrowed.

And now is a good time to sell – prices are trending upward and there are plenty of buyers waiting!
