The land features a 5.6 Acre lake site – the lake site diagrammed and engineered by one of the top engineering firms in the region and would be approximately 30 feet deep if desired to put in.
And the land….
The land, simply put, has proven to be one of the top smaller hunting tracts in southeast Iowa! Several bucks have been taken scoring over 165 and up to 185 Boone and Crockett inches in the last 10 years alone. And there are turkeys galore – pheasants too! (A 29-pound gobbler shot on the farm this spring!) Be to check out the photos!
That’s right a small tract that hunts BIG!
It’s better to have a small tract in the right place than a large tract in the wrong place; this small tract is definitely in the right place!
One quick look at any aerial reveals a huge timbered draw that acts as a funnel for traveling bucks to and from larger tracts of timber in both directions. This funnel gets traveled by most of the bucks in the region during the rut! And there is a nice year-round stream that trickles right through the middle of the land. Rest assured there are multitudes of stand site options and lots of different isolated field areas for various food plots! Some of which you can see from the house — pattern bucks by watching them out your living room windwo!
And the house….
The house has tons of custom features built-in that you just won’t find in many other homes!
The 1998 cedar-sided ranch home features a rustic yet modern look (3226 square foot upstairs area and another 3226 square feet of mostly finished basement area).
It has a very open floor plan with stunning hickory flooring with cherry trim throughout the main living space and hallway.
The main living area features a soaring cathedral ceiling, with hand-laid stone walls on two sides. The space is light and bright with all of the windows overlooking the rolling wooded Des Moines river valley terrain and 2 extra skylights peeking down through the ceiling doesn’t hurt anything either (and it looks incredible!).
The ceiling is lined with white pine cut from a forest in northeastern Iowa.
There is a huge mantel over the gas fireplace there. The mantle was hand-cut from a 150-year-old Iowa cedar tree and custom installed over the fireplace.
There is another such mantel over a similar fireplace in the sitting room and yet another such mantel – this one serving as a buffet table – on a rock wall next to the dining room table under the trey ceiling there.
Just off the dining area, you’ll find a large screened-in porch – perfect for enjoying those quiet summer evenings with a cool drink!
Easy to clean and maintain porcelain tile makes up the kitchen and sitting room area flooring as well as the front, rear, and 3-season porch doorway areas.
Enter the elaborate full chef’s kitchen from the living area through the large entrance framed by beams from a 100-year-old giant Iowa white oak tree!
Get ready to cook up restaurant quality meals, with either the double Kitchen Aid oven or the 5 burner Kitchen Aid gas stove top!
Or, if you prefer, you can fire up the wood-fired Italian Pizza Oven that is right in your Kitchen! (You heard me right)! Yes, you can cook up some of the best “Brick Oven” pizza’s in the world, – cook a pizza at over 700 degrees in just a couple of minutes right in your kitchen all year long! Or, you can roast various meats, bake beans, or pies, or all kinds of breads right in your own wood-fired pizza oven! Everything comes out moist and with that perfect campfire taste! It really does!
The kitchen cabinets are knotty hickory with all drawers and cabinetry featuring soft-close technology.
The countertops are imported Brazilian soapstone. The color is called “Stormy Black”. This soapstone is one of the hardest on the market and is one of the best surfaces to use for cooking. There is no required maintenance and it will not stain!
Soapstone countertops will outlast any human and do not wear out. It is also considered “sealed” so that it cannot harbor potential harmful food-borne bacteria as can granite and some other surfaces. It is one of the most preferred countertops by chefs and others who really cook!
The kitchen sinks are all soapstone and are custom made and are huge. So don’t worry about having big pots and pans — these sinks will handle them! The kitchen faucets — including one on the island are all touch on touch off for the ultimate ease of use when your hands are full! (The kitchen features all modern quality stainless steel appliances and there are even two huge refrigerators! Well over 50 cubic feet of refrigerated storage space in the kitchen!
There is a cedar sided “green room” just outside the kitchen that features lots of windows and electric skylights that open and close with the simple flip of a switch.
The green room is perfect for warming the body on those cold winter days or for starting seed for the garden in February!
On the other side of the kitchen is a perfect sitting area in front of a brick fireplace. A great place to have a cup of coffee while taking in some of the most spectacular scenery/views in southeast Iowa out the huge window overlooking the property!
Get things done in your own modern yet rustic wood-sided office located just outside the kitchen and the large main-floor laundry is just around the corner too.
Downstairs you will find a large open area for living space or for the kids, or guests, to possibly use for recreation space as well as another room perfect for watching TV or a movie. Just in front of this area is a nice wet bar complete with sink and refrigerator. There are two large bedrooms downstairs (one non-conforming – having no ingress/egress window). And, there is a large storage room and laundry area as well as a large furnace room and two more storage areas.
Attached to the house is a large, heated, 3 car garage (1228 square feet)
